About
Why I created LiveVerdon
An independent guide, developed in Castellane, for the Verdon and its 65 municipalities.
When people talk about the Verdon, they immediately think of the Gorges du Verdon, the lakes and the magnificent landscapes that draw visitors from all over the world every year.
But the Verdon is also everything that goes on behind these landscapes. It is about its villages, residents, shopkeepers, craftspeople, associations and everyone who works every day to keep our region alive.
This is the richness I want people to discover through LiveVerdon.
The idea came from a fairly simple observation. Today, to find information about the Verdon, you often have to look in several places. Events are announced here and there, practical information is scattered, and some municipalities have a strong presence online while others, just as interesting, are far less visible.
And when you want to know what is happening today, what is accessible or what you could do this weekend, it is not always easy.
I thought it would be useful to bring all of this together in one place.
That is how I started building LiveVerdon.
A region to enjoy all year round
My aim is to create an independent guide dedicated to the Verdon and to the 65 municipalities in the area covered by the guide. A site that is simple to use, where everyone can find useful information, ideas for outings, places to discover, local listings, events and services.
But one thing matters to me: LiveVerdon is not only for tourists.
It is just as much for those who live here all year round.
For a family looking for an activity at the weekend, for someone who wants to discover a neighbouring village, for an association organising an event, for a shopkeeper who wants to make their business known, or simply for a resident who wants to stay informed about what is happening around them.
Because our region does not only come alive during the summer holidays. Things happen here all year round, and they deserve to be known too.
65 municipalities, one shared ambition
I also want to give small municipalities and local initiatives their rightful place. The Verdon is not just the places you see in every photograph. There is a great deal to discover when you take the time to leave the best-known routes.
A Verdon open to the world
And since the Verdon attracts visitors from many countries, I wanted LiveVerdon to be accessible beyond our borders.
Today, the site is available in six languages: French, English, German, Italian, Dutch and Spanish.
In the long run, my aim is to reach ten languages, opening up in particular to Asian countries.
I think it is important that someone preparing their first trip to the Verdon can discover our region in their own language, understand what they can do there and easily find the information they need.
It can also help to introduce our villages and local businesses to new visitors.
Independent information
Another point is particularly close to my heart: the reliability of information.
I want LiveVerdon to be a site you can rely on. That means looking for the right sources, checking information as far as possible and updating it regularly. It is important work, often unseen, but essential in my view.
I am also determined to preserve its independence. Professionals must be able to present their establishments and activities, but this must not influence the information given to visitors. Commercial listings must remain clearly identifiable.
A project built with you
I know that not everything is perfect yet. Some sections need to be enriched, some information completed, some features improved. I continue to work on the site and improve it.
It is a project to which I devote a lot of time and in which I deeply believe.
I would like LiveVerdon, over the years, to become a site people consult naturally, whether they are preparing their holidays or live in the region.
A place where you come to look for information and sometimes discover something you did not know, even a few kilometres from home.
But I do not want to build this project on my own, in isolation.
Residents, associations and professionals know their area better than anyone. Their information, ideas and suggestions can make a real contribution to LiveVerdon.
If you are organising an event, if you know a place that deserves to be discovered, or if you simply have a suggestion to improve the site, please do not hesitate to contact me.
I want LiveVerdon to grow with the people who love this region and keep it alive.
That is why I created it, and that is the spirit in which I wish to continue.
